Dear Katy Perry,

You are the epitome of everything I hate about popular music. You are the exact definition of music containing no substance. You think you're different because you wear high-waisted clothing, but that just makes you yet another loser striving to "break away." Your lack of vocal skills put me on the verge of tears. I laugh my ass off whenever I see you performing live and trying to do runs, despite the fact you don't have the talent to do so. I think it's funny that people call you an "artist." I'll admit to singing along to "Hot N' Cold," but that's probably only because you had some sick subliminal messaging going on in that song. And oh, you may have a nice body, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't cover it up some time. I've seen enough of your thighs and boobs to last me a lifetime.
Please never release any "music," ever again.

Yours truly,
Anna

Do These Reindeer Antlers Make Me Look Fat?

I vury much 'preciates the musical cheer that's been occurring as of late. Only 20 days until it's officially uncool that I jam to 96.5 as I do my homework!

Zoeyzoeyzoeyzoooooo!

DJ Zo should be our guy for the upcoming Winter Ball--assuming he isn't asking for more than $240 for the night. Guy's dope, though! Something about him creates an atmosphere. And guess who's in charge of coordinating his appearance and making him sign a contract -_-? I guess I can find some weird sort of way to put this on my college application as a cool music-related extra curricular. "Coordinator and contractor of DJ's for school social events," doesn't really have a ring to it. Haha.

Call It an Upsetting Stance

I suddenly find myself respecting Lady Gaga after the "Bad Romance," video. Chick's out of her fhking mind, but that's why I can't help but kind of like her. At least she's no Katy-Iwishshewouldfalloffofthefaceoftheearth-Perry. "Teeth," and, "So Happy I Could Die," are actually 2 really solid tracks from The Fame Monster.

Not Freaky Enough

And therefore not download-worthy. "I Told You I Was Freaky," and, "Too Many Dicks on the Dancefloor," were pretty much the most poppin' tunes, and they weren't great enough to make the 15-minute-long-zip-download worth my time.

You Already Know

There IS no better Christmas song.

Sooo Exciting Toooo Meeee

For whatever reason, I've been on this funk-hype lately. "Fresh," by Kool & the Gang and "She's a Bad Mama Jama," by Carl Carlton have been on a constant repeat. AHHHH, the golden ages!

A 'Lil Foreign Love

It was 3:30 in the morning when I was laying in my living room watching MTV videos when "Bulletproof," came on. This song is absolute gold. Checked out the rest of her album, though, and it sounds like a TOTAL crap; I do not recommend grabbing it. Enioy the song, though.

A 'Lil Tenderness

My goal in life is to teach myself this dance.

I Have Issues.

I think this song is incredible. Seriously. On repeat x7 right now. Help me.

"Like a Riot, Like a Riot OHHH!!"

Tell me why this Phoenix album is SOOOOO good?! I didn't get into the whole Phoenix vibe until one of their older songs ("If I Ever Feel Better") was featured on an episode of Entourage, and this album is even better than that! "Lisztomania," was automatically my favorite. Something about that simple pounding beat just gets me. They've got some intense instruments in the background that I can't even comprehend, which somehow makes it even more amazing. In addition, the chorus (every time, without fail) makes me jerk my head in freakish bobbing motions because my body can't control how awesome the audio coming in is.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND ALBUM COVER !!!!!1!1!!!!one!!!eleven!!!!1!

AHHHHHH!!!!!! AMAZINGNESS!!!!!!!

Tragedy in the Life of Anna

I can't make it to the Vampire Weekend concert in Lafeyette OR Santa Cruz. The circumstances are understandable, but it's still very very upsetting. There's always another time, I guess. You can never see your favorite band in the world ENOUGH times, though.

Man On The Moon: The End of my Summer Wishlist

Apparently, the Kid Cudi album leaked today. IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME. I've already been told it's incredible. I need to find it somewhere before I go insane.

Quirky Love

I adore this song. It combines swinging beats and tones with cry baby/emo lyrics. "I could kill myself ... would that make you feel much better?" The combination of light and dark makes it great.

I'm Not Even Ashamed.

Don't judge it 'til you've jammed.

Shoot Me in the Face.

Because I just downloaded this song.

89.5 FM is a curse.

Since being in Seattle, 89.5 has changed me. I have a new love/appreciation for remixed pop music. Thank you/not.

And I'm like "Yes."

Perhaps a close 2nd for the best song of summer 2009.

Dat New New (VIKING Remix) = Song of the Summer

So, as of about a month ago, I've been in love with a Youtube star (see above image). Haha. I was browsing his videos, and checked out a music vid he'd recorded to a remix of a Kid Cudi song. I'm not gonna lie and say that he didn't contribute AT ALL to how much I liked the video the first time I heard/saw it, but before long I was replaying to video over and over again for the sole purpose of hearing the song.
If it were possible for your head to explode, due to an insane o.d. of musical MAGIC coming into your ears, this remix would make it happen. I say with complete and utter confidence that "Dat New 'New' (Viking Remix)" is by faaaar the best song of the summer. And perhaps 2009 .... we'll have to wait on that one.

Gay Fish Turns a New Leaf

I am officially the last person on earth to have heard "Gay Fish." I saw a link for download a few months back on an mp3 website but I didn't check it out. On Tuesday during class break, I decided to Youtube "Gay Fish" on a whim. It's very hilarious, obviously. Every time he says "Mutha fuckin' gay fish," I just DIE. The beat is so "Heartless" that it's catchy and unmistakable. Later, once home, I read about Kanye's response, via blog. I must say it was completely unexpected. Essentially, he promised to cut down on the cockyness.
Damn. This leaves me with no reason to dislike him.
"I just wanna be a doper person, which starts with me not always telling people how dope I think I am."
Word.

Discovery: Revived Musical Magic Insanity

Anna dscvr'd Discovery last summer during her stay in Seattle. A few listens to "Orange Shirt" via myspace and I was hooked instantly. My only dismay was the thought Discovery was an unfinished and never-to-be-worked-on-again project. Much to my delight, I found it was still a work in progress when I stumbled upon the Dscvry.net last night(by extreme luck). Shockingly, it turns out XL Recordings actually picked them up and they have a full length album set to drop July 7th. Awesomely, the album is now available for full preview on the website. I'll review it soon!

Dirty Projectors- Bitte Orca

DYYIINNNG to get my hands on this album.
